DIY camper trailer under $1500!
Переглядів 2372 роки тому
2022 overland camper build. I started with a 1996 Fleetwood/Coleman trailer that was damaged in a windstorm. I stripped the trailer all the way down to bare metal, then modified the frame and built a new cab on top of the old frame. My goal was to build the trailer that i designed in CAD using as much of the material from the original trailer as possible. I ended up building the entire trailer ...
Small travel trailer build
Переглядів 2892 роки тому
I built this trailer, tried to stay on a tight budget and use as many parts of the popup trailer that I tore down as possible. I had a goal of making a trailer that could be fully lived in without any set up and could be parked in a standard garage. The toilet (not pictured) is in the closet. It is a standard thetford composting toilet. I used corrugated galvanized steel framing on the sides an...

Converting a popup trailer into a travel trailer mini
Переглядів 31 тис.4 роки тому
I bought a popup trailer that was a mess. So I ripped it down and built a new trailer on the frame. I wanted the trailer to fit in a garage. I also wanted to be able to stand up in the trailer. This is what I ended up with. The trailer is framed up using 2x6 steel studs. I initially tech screwed them in place, then used rivets, and eventually decided that welding would hold them together just f...

Teardrop trailer build
Переглядів 8745 років тому
Homemade trailer. I don’t have any of the build photos taken when The show was made. That was years ago. The camper shell is covered with impregnated canvas, similar to what you see on old airplanes. There is a lot of fiberglass and acrylic on the outside. As you can see from the picturesThe trailer went through many different paint jobs. This was a fun project, the inside is extremely comforta...

Did you have to change anything for titling this?
Can I get one made.. asking for a friend lol 😂
this is so cool! just what the world has been needing! are these for sale?
Very nice editing 😎
If my Dad was still alive he would love a project like this.
Where’s your galley?
Your camper is beautiful but I’m having a hard time believing it was under 1k. I’m pricing out my own and that’s just not possible with all that you have in yours. Thanks for sharing tho.
It was a few years ago. I got the wood from a local dealer that sells odd cuts of wood. The fiberglass was bought from Amazon and was cheap. The windows came from an old bus and were nearly free. The trailer itself was an old used popup camper that I got for $100

Blown away ! How long do these take to make?
Ok this is just insane! Wow!! Totally enjoyed the video! Great job!
Very nice work!
Love it!
Nice job!! Can you please share the dimensions and weight of the trailer?
I can send you all of my drawings and spreadsheet on materials and everything. Just send me your email address or somewhere that I can post them
I love this
Amazing!!
you converted a fram
Love the build, I'm currently planning my own, what thickness of plywood did you use? I'm considering going with 1/4 inch ply with the walls framed using 1x2 and insulated with foam. Would 1/4 inch ply be strong enough?
I love your design, this is something like that that I want to do. The angle of the roof is actually close to a flying wing and as you speed up to travelling speed, this shape should lessen the weight on the trailer the same way it would do on a airplane. If you have kept the slide out part of the pull-out bed frame, you should think of building a smaller pull-out for a AC that would allow it not to cause drag by sticking outside during travel
The wheels are to small but it is real nice love it !
Thumbs down for not answering people's questions!!
Sorry about that.
Star Crest, super 😎
That chrome piece in the front makes it look 100 times better.. how am I just now finding out about these things… really looking into building one for myself
Very cool! Nice video too, I love when we get to see just the build not 20 hrs of commentary! lol!
Nice build. Check out my homemade camper.
How much you spend total?
Hi, I spent $880
So what happens to the title ? Do you have to get a new one?
Does the HF trailer actually hold up over cross country trips? I have had numerous HF trailers fail on trips bc the tires are not speed rated for highways.
This is my favorite of all your builds. I would buy this one.
You need to sell these! I would buy one!
That is actually a very cool original design. Nice.
you have a lot off work to do good luck
great work
Great job
What’s the size of it? Did you use treated plywood? Was it 4x8 sides
great build, always fun to see a fellow camper builder turn out a fine piece of work. I hope you enjoy camping in it as much as you enjoyed building it.
Hello, Great trailer :)
Sell me the plans
kk
i need to build a Utility/Teardrop, but i am concerned about the tires, the ones that come with the trailers i have seen are small and LOW speed ones. Did you use the standard wheel? or upgrade?
Great build 💯💜💯💜💯
You are not really converting a pop-up. You tore down and tossed out a pop-up and built a new camper on the old frame.
Converting the trailer not the pop up itself
Exactly
Exactly! What I thought. Less converting more new build
Very nice. What is the weight of the box itself minus the trailer?
Love that paint job
Really love this build and the art work is brilliant. My only concern is the air conditioning unit will be subjected to a lot of back draft, which I’m hoping you have a cover for. We all know how fine the grit can get in the winter and it will clog up the radiator fins real quick. In all I love it and would love to see a follow up on how it’s doing today, eg: What’s worked and what hasn’t. Cheers.
Very Cool. Did you fiberglass the seams to waterproof it?
John Gilmour , I glassed the entire exterior with marine fiberglass. I double taped 6” down on each corner. It’s a couple years old now and no cracks or leaks!
Wow, this is amazing.So COOL...
What's the condition now days? Has it held up and what would you change?
Roverman was my question too!
a tip: you can watch movies at Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching a lot of movies recently.
@Alden Jamal Definitely, have been watching on flixzone} for since december myself :)
It has held up great. It got larger tires put on it and it looked Awsome! I should have added a larger axle, but I was trying to build the whole thing for under 1,000. I should have added more insulation under the floor. Gets a little cold if the heater is not running up in utah.
" a few days"!???
So Devin the Skelton of this camper is 2x6 metal? It looks more like a C channel aluminum or something maybe I didn't. make my first question clear I wanted to know what you used to make the internal Skelton frame? And while I'm at it what did you use to cover it afterwards the roof too and what makes it water tight?
Awesome
